Security BSides Dehradun is a community-driven cybersecurity conference dedicated to fostering open communication, collaboration, and learning in a safe and inclusive environment. We expect all attendees, speakers, sponsors, volunteers, and staff to act with professionalism, integrity, and mutual respect.

This Code of Conduct ensures that:

Every participant feels safe and welcome..
Discussions and activities align with ethical cybersecurity practices. .
All legal and compliance standards are met. .

By attending Security BSides Dehradun, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct, and failure to comply may result in disciplinary actions, including removal from the event.

Prohibited Behavior

The following behaviors are strictly prohibited at Security BSides Dehradun:

1.Violence & Threats

Any form of physical or verbal threats, intimidation, or incitement to violence.
Encouraging or glorifying self-harm or harm to others.

2. Harassment & Discrimination

Unwanted or offensive remarks, jokes, or actions related to:
Gender identity & expression
Sexual orientation
Disability or medical conditions
Race, ethnicity, or nationality
Religion or beliefs
Inappropriate physical contact or unwelcome sexual advances.
Targeted online harassment, including direct messages, emails, or social media abuse.

3. Privacy Violations & Doxxing

Sharing or publishing personally identifiable information (such as private addresses, phone numbers, or sensitive data) without explicit consent.

4. Disruption of Events & Sessions

Interrupting talks, workshops, or panels with disruptive behavior, shouting, or heckling.
Using high-volume electronic devices during sessions that interfere with the speaker or audience experience.

5. Unprofessional & Unethical Conduct

Any behavior that creates a hostile, unprofessional, or unwelcoming environment.
Spreading misinformation or engaging in unethical hacking activities that violate legal or ethical standards.

6. Substance Abuse

The use of illegal drugs or excessive alcohol consumption that results in disruptive behavior.

Legal & Compliance Policies

Security BSides Dehradun is a legally compliant event that adheres to all Indian laws and international cybersecurity regulations. Attendees must respect these legal boundaries to ensure a safe and professional conference.

1. Respect for Laws & Regulations

Any actions that violate Indian laws, including cybercrime, defamation, or harassment, will lead to immediate removal and legal consequences.
Unauthorized cybersecurity demonstrations must comply with ethical hacking and responsible disclosure policies.

2. Intellectual Property & Speaker Rights

All talk content belongs to the speaker and must not be copied, modified, or misused without permission.
Unauthorized live streaming, recording, or distribution of speaker content is prohibited unless explicitly allowed.

3. Sponsorship & Brand Representation

Sponsorship agreements must be honored, and false claims about sponsorships or affiliations will not be tolerated.
No false marketing or misleading use of the Security BSides Dehradun brand is permitted.

4. Handling False Allegations & Reputation Damage

BSides Dehradun reserves the right to take legal action against false allegations, defamation, or misleading claims about the event or its organizers.
We encourage attendees to report legitimate concerns through proper channels instead of making unverified public claims.

Consequences for Violating the Code of Conduct

Participants found violating the Code of Conduct or legal policies may face:

Verbal warnings or formal written notices.
Immediate removal from the event (without refund).
Permanent ban from future Security BSides events.
Legal action if the violation involves criminal activity.

Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience a violation of this Code of Conduct, report it immediately.

How to Report:

1. In-Person: Visit the registration desk and request to speak with the Code of Conduct team.

2. Email: Send a report to info@bsidesdehradun.com.

3. Anonymous Reporting: Use our online anonymous complaint form

Confidentiality & Safety: All reports will be handled confidentially, and necessary actions will be taken promptly.

Photography, Videography & Media Policy

Photography & recording are allowed during the event, except where explicitly prohibited.

If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded:

Collect a “No Photography” badge/sticker at the registration desk.
Avoid sitting in recorded/live-streamed areas.

Restricted Areas for Media: Certain workshops and sensitive research discussions may be labeled as “No Recording Zones.”

Use of Event Footage: BSides Dehradun may use event photos and videos for future marketing, documentation, and promotional materials.
